Ready to head out for a camping trip with your family? You’ll want to ensure that your RV is ready, too! Traveling by a camper is convenient and affordable, but it does merit some preparatory work to ensure that your RV is inspected and packed before you head to the campground. Here’s a handy checklist to help you prepare yourselves and your RV for your summer adventures.

Stock Supplies

Your RV should be cleaned out and ready to be filled with all those necessities that you’ll need on the road. This includes bed linens, blankets, pillows, bath towels, kitchen towels, toiletries, a broom and dustpan, cleaning supplies, paper towels, plastic baggies, foil, dish settings for every passenger, cookware, and trash bags. Go through each room to make sure it’s ready for travel. Don’t forget to check your emergency supplies like your fire extinguishers, first-aid kit, emergency radio, RV toolkit, and extra food and water.

Plan Your Meals

One easy way to reduce stress as you travel in your camper is to prepare your meal plans ahead of time so that you don’t have to do as much cooking and you won’t be tempted to eat fast food every night. Solicit opinions from your group of travelers.

Figure out some simple breakfast and lunch options that you can quickly put together such as granola and yogurt with fresh fruit and sandwiches, along with a few fun meals like pancakes and waffles. Do your grocery shopping now so you can stock the fridge and pantry, knowing that you can always pick up fresh dairy and produce on the way.

Get Everyone’s Luggage Together

Now you’ve got to ensure every passenger has their stuff packed and ready to go. This is particularly challenging with children. Writing a short packing list can help everyone stay organized. Here are some examples of the types of essentials that everyone might need:

  • Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, cosmetics, hairbrush, comb, etc.
  • Medications: daily prescriptions, vitamins, and supplements.
  • Clothing: enough outfits for the trip with rain gear and warm clothing for weather changes.
  • Toys: travel games, drawing supplies, crafts, and books.
  • Electronics: cell phone with charger, tablets, video game systems, and headphones or earbuds.
