Consigning your RV to a dealership is the easiest way to sell your rig! No need to worry about haggling or complicated paperwork—the dealership will handle it all. However, there are a few things you’ll want to do before you hand off your RV to make sure you get a great price for it. To help you prepare, we’ve written up these helpful tips before you head over to our dealership in Anderson, South Carolina. Lakeside RV Sales proudly serves the cities of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Greenville, South Carolina.

Clean Your RV

The first thing you’ll want to do before selling your RV is deep clean it! This includes both the inside and outside of your rig, as well as various implements such as stoves, bathrooms, and water tanks. It’s important that your rig looks clean and well taken care of. If there are a few cleaning tasks you’re not up for, you could even look into hiring a detailing service.

Research Prices

Before you head over to the dealership to negotiate, you’ll want to arm yourself with as much information as possible. Familiarize yourself with blue and black book prices, and look up what RVs similar to yours are selling for. Remember to pay close attention to states as you research RV prices, as the different sales tax and fees can affect price. Once you’ve got all the information, you need to remember to gather up all of your RV’s relevant documents, such as the title and proof of maintenance.

Get an Evaluation

If you’re serious about getting a great price for your RV, you might want to get it evaluated. This takes some of the guesswork out of selling as an expert will give you a price range based on the condition of your RV. They may even offer a few tips, such as the best dealerships to sell with or the best time of the year to sell. You can also present this evaluation during your negotiation with a dealership to give your sales pitch some substance.

Fix Maintenance Issues

Many dealerships that buy pre-owned RVs will fix many of their mechanical issues themselves. However, some dealerships will decide to walk away from a sale if they don’t have the resources to fix these problems. If your RV has a few small technical issues you might find it more cost effective to have them fixed yourself before negotiating with your dealership to get a higher payout. You can even present proof of repairs to your salesperson to raise the value of your model. If your RV requires expensive repairs you can’t afford, we advise selling to a dealership with an onsite service department.
